A physician of Community Based Medical College Bangladesh (CBMCB) in Mymensingh Sadar upazila returned yesterday, eight days after he went missing from his residence in the town. 

Dr Ali Al Rasul Atiq, 38, went out of his house on Horikishore Roy Road in the town on October 17, police said. 

As he did not return, his mother Zobeda Nahar filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali Police Station on October 19 and also informed the Rapid Action Battalion.

“Atiq returned home safely this morning,” said his elder sister Meherunnahar Chowdhury Lucky. 

On information, Detective Branch (DB) of police took the doctor to the their office in the afternoon, said Officer-in-Charge Ashiqur Rahman of DB, Mymensingh.

“The doctor told police that he went into hiding in Gazipur area but did not disclose the cause behind the act. He is being interrogated at the DB office,” he said.

Prof Dr Mirza Manjurul Haque, principal of the medical college, said Atiq was absent from his workplace for a week before he went missing on October 17.
