Man strangles wife in B'baria

The decomposed body of a woman, who was strangled allegedly by her husband, was found in Khadurail village under Bijoynagar upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased was Parveen Akhter, 25, wife of Nur Hossain, 32, of Dolna village under Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj and daughter of Ashraf Ali of Kutubpur village under Bijoynagar upazila.

Bijoynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) (investigation), Kabir Hossain said Nur Hossain married Parveen about four years ago. After the marriage, a feud developed between them.

Parveen recently returned to her father's house due to the feud. She went to sleep with her family members on Sunday night and was missing since then. Her father filed a general diary with Bijoynagar Police Station on Monday.

Locals found the body in a ditch in Khadurail village on Wednesday night and informed the police, who sent it to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Nur Hossain was arrested from Shayestaganj upazila of Habiganj yesterday morning, the OC said. During the primary interrogation, Nur confessed that he strangled his wife to death, he added.
