Man kills wife, son

A woman and her 10-month-old son were murdered in Gupti union under Faridganj upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased are Fatema Begum, 23, wife of Russel Hossain of the area, and her son Parag.

One Mahiuddin Ahmed, a neighbour of the victims, alleged that the two were burnt to death around 1:00am. Later, the bodies were dumped in the nearby pond.

In the morning, locals found the bodies floating on the water and informed the police, he said.

The law enforcers rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Chandpur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.   

Family sources said Russel, son of Sirajul Haque of the area, married Fatema two years ago.

After their marriage, Russel and his family members often tortured Fatema for dowry, alleged her father Abdul Gafur.

“Russel and his sister killed Fatema and her child for dowry,” he said.
