Man gets life for killing neighbour

A court here yesterday sentenced a man to rigorous imprisonment for life for killing his neighbour in Baliadangi upazila in 2012.

The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer three months more in jail.

The convict is Abdul Khalek, 38, of Mechhni village.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Haydar Ali handed down the verdict.  

According to the prosecution, Khalek had a longstanding dispute with neighbour Abdul Haque, 46, over a piece of land.

Khalek stabbed Haque in the chest on August 9 in 2012, leaving him seriously injured. 

Haque was rushed to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital where he died.
