Lightning kills 4

Four people were killed and two others injured in three upazilas of the district after lightning struck them in separate incidents yesterday morning.

Mafiz Miah, 30, son of Islam Miah of Baruna village under Kalapur union in Sreemangal upazila, was struck by lightning while on a boat in Hail haor of the upazila. He died on the spot, said Polash Kumar Roy, resident medical officer of Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

Samad, 15, son of Fayez Uddin, was killed on the spot when lightning struck him while he was working in a paddy field near his house in Khalilpur under Sadar upazila, said Tofazzal Hosain, sub-inspector of Moulvibazar Police Station.

Bosu Boisnob, 32, son of Bireshor Boisnob, and Adhir Boisnob, 27, son of Nadu Boisnob of Telghoria village in Baniachong upazila of Habiganj died on the spot after being struck by lightning when they were returning home from Daulatpur Haor in the morning, said Baniachaog Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mamun Khondokar.

Two others were injured in the same incident.
