Journo missing for 11 days
Obaidur Rahman, Manikganj correspondent of private satellite channel Desh TV, has remained missing for eleven days.
Obaidur, 48, son of Tamez Uddin of Kahetara village of the district's Ghior upazila, is also a member of Ghior upazila unit of Bangladesh Krishak Samity, an associate organisation of the Communist Party of Bangladesh.
He along with other leaders and members had gone to Khulna by bus on February 14 to attend the national conference of Bangladesh Krishak Samity in Khulna, from Manikganj Bijoy Mela ground in the district town, Nazrul Islam, general secretary of Manikganj district unit of the organisation, said at Manikganj Press Club on Sunday.
After the conference, he started for Manikganj on a bus on February 15 and on the way, the bus stopped at a petrol pump near Jessore's Manihar Cinema Hall around 11:00pm.
Sometime after the bus re-started, it was noticed that Obaidur was not there and he remained missing since then, Krishak Samity leaders said.
Obaidur Rahman's wife Sakhina Sultana Ranu said, “I talked with Obaidur at 11:00am on February 16 but could not know his location. After that, his mobile was found off.”
“My husband was sick and sometimes became unconscious,” she said.
On behalf of the family, Bangladesh Krishak Samity informed Manikganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahfuzur Rahman and the latter sent a letter to the SP of Jessore, requesting him to take steps for finding the missing person, said the official.
