Jessore AL man killed in ‘bomb attack’

An activist of ruling Awami League was killed in a “bomb attack” by rivals over previous enmity in Jhikargachha upazila of Jessore this noon.

Deceased Abbas Mollah 40, of Chandrapur area, was a brother of Kamal Hossain, general secretary of the upazila unit BCL, said Ali Abu Saleh Md Masud Karim, officer in-charge of Jhikargachha Police Station.

A group of rivals hurled bomb at Abbas while he along with his brothers Kamal Hossain and Abdus Salam, a UP member, was looking for a house to rent in the area, leaving Abbas critically injured, the OC said. 

He succumbed to injuries on the way to the local upazila health complex, the police official told our local correspondent.

Later, police sent the body to Jessore General Hospital for autopsy.

No case was lodged and none was arrested in this connection.
