Govt to formulate digital security act, Palak tells JS

The government is going to enact a digital security act to prevent cyber crimes and track down cyber criminals, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak told the parliament today.
Replying to lawmakers’ queries, Palak said, under the law, the government would set up a world standard forensic lab for the first time in the country to prevent cyber crime, track down cyber criminals and test various devices.
The state minister also said that the government would introduce a cyber security agency along with a cyber security council.
The state minister added, “The government has formed a national cyber incident response team, which will test penetration and vulnerability along with critical infrastructure in all public and private servers and their data preserved on their websites.”
Palak also informed the parliament that the government has identified 21 critical infrastructures across the country through nine meetings and four billion of the internet users are at cyber risk. “A cyber security guideline was also prepared.”
Replying to a supplementary question, he said the government would also provide training to 55,000 people in the first phase under earning and learning project across the country.
He said the government also has a plan to provide servers, tabs, laptops and internet equipments to service providers like health workers, deputy and assistant agricultural officers in agriculture sector, etc.
The state minister said that the government has another plan to install 1,000 wifi zones at different parks and bazars for young generation.
