Gold worth Tk 90 lakh seized in Ctg airport
Customs intelligence officials recovered 16 gold bars weighing two kilogrammes and detained a passenger of an Air Arabia flight at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong this morning.
The seized gold was worth Tk 90 lakh, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Syed Mukaddes Hossain, assistant director of Chittagong Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
The officials recovered the gold bars from Jahangir Alam, a passenger on the flight, which landed at the airport from United Arab Emirates at 9:55am this morning, the customs official added.
The official further said, upon suspicion, customs officials conducted a search on Alam, hailing from Satkania in Chittagong, and found the gold bars concealed in his shoes.
