Drug traders attack police

Two policemen were injured after they were attacked by alleged drug traders at Sweeper Colony in Thakurgaon municipality while conducting a drive early Sunday.

The injured are Constables Motiur Rahman, 34, and Abdur Rahim, 32, of Thakurgaon Police Station.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of the police station Golam Mortoza told this correspondent that, acting on a tip-off, a police team led by him went to Sweeper Colony to conduct a drive against drug sellers.

When the policemen reached the colony, the drug peddlers attacked them with sharp weapons and sticks, leaving Motiur and Rahim injured.

They took treatment from Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.

Police arrested Dinobondhu, 27, a wanted drug trader of the area, on the same day and sent him to jail through a Thakurgaon court.
