Drug peddler gets seven years' RI

A court here yesterday sentenced a drug peddler to seven years' rigorous imprisonment.

The convict is Mortuza alias Sohag Mridha, 30, of Najirpur village in Baufal upazila, said Public Prosecutor KBM Ariful Haque.

Patuakhali Special District and Sessions Judge Basu Dev Roy also acquitted two other accused-- Monir Kazi alias Saddam, 28, and Mosharaf Hossain, 30, of the village—as the charge brought against them could not be proved.

According to the prosecution, Baufal police arrested the three with 120 Yaba tablets on June 18 in 2016.
