40-year-old patient dies in Barishal isolation unit
A 40-year-old patient undergoing treatment at the isolation unit of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal died this morning.
The patient was shifted to SBMCH from Patuakhali Medical College Hospital (PMCH) yesterday evening, our Barishal correspondent reports quoting Dr Bakir Hossain, director of the hospital.
The patient was suffering from fever, cough and breathing problem, Dr Bakir said.
Before being shifted to the corona isolation unit at SBMCH, the man was undergoing treatment at PMCH for four days, the director said.
Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patuakhali Sadar Police Station said, "Seven houses of Bahalgachia village under Sadar upazila, where the man hailed from, has been under lockdown since this noon."
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old woman died early today at SBMCH just before being shifting to the isolation unit, SBMCH director Bakir said.
She recovered from diarrhea and was released from Barishal General Hospital on Thursday, said the doctor.
Then again, she came to SBMCH after 12:00am, with fever and breathing problem and duty doctor referred her to the isolation unit, Dr Bakir said.
She died just before being shifted, he added.
Process was on to send the samples of six people, including the abovementioned two, to IEDCR to get confirmation about their coronavirus infection, said the doctor.
