An indigenous college girl was found dead in Bandarban yesterday while an elderly man was beaten dead in Barguna on Saturday, reports our correspondents.
Police recovered the body of an indigenous girl from her house in Yangcha area under Bandarban's Lama upazila yesterday.
The victim was identified as Mya Hla U Marma, 18, who sat for her HSC exam this year and daughter of Cra Hla Aung Marma.
“Although we didn't find any injury marks on the body, we suspect criminals might have killed her and looted some valuables from the house,” Officer-in-Charge of Lama Police Station Oppela Raju Naha said.
Away in Barguna, a 60-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly over a disputed land in Barguna's Taltali upazila on Saturday.
The deceased, Toiyub Ali Hawlader, 60, was a resident of Hulatana village.
Police detained Shahidul Islam Hawlader, 50, his wife Hazera Begum, 40, and their son Masum Billah.
The arrestees were produced before a court on Sunday that sent them to jail, OC of Taltali Police Station Pulok Chandra.
Quoting the villagers, police said there had been a longstanding feud between Toiyub and Shahidul over the ownership of a disputed land.
As a sequel, an altercation took place after Toiyub's goat damaged some green chilli trees of Shahidul and at one stage Shahidul's son Masum Billah beat Toiyub with an iron rod, leaving him dead on the spot.
