Tailor arrested for raping third-grader in Noakhali

Police arrested a tailor for raping a seven-year-old in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali last night.  

The arrestee is identified as Abul Khayer (45), of Krisnarampur village in Begumganj, our local correspondent reports quoting police.

The victim, a student of class three, was undergoing treatment at Noakhali General Hospital, said Harun-ur-Rashed Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC), of Begumganj Police Station.

Her mother filed a case with the police station this morning, the police official added.

Abul raped the child when she went to his shop at Kalirhat Bazar yesterday evening to get her clothes tailored, said the OC.

The family members came to know when the child returned home and was unwell, said Harun-ur-Rashed quoting the family.

They then rushed the child to Noakhali General Hospital.

Soon after being informed, police arrested the tailor from Kalihat Bazar area around 11:30 last night, the OC added.

Medical examination of the child will be conducted today, said Dr Mohiuddin Abdul Azim of the hospital.
