The vice chancellor of Buet, who was asked to appear on the campus by this afternoon and answer why he didn’t show up right after the murder of Abrar Fahad, is said to have started for Kushtia to console the victim’s family members.
VC Saiful Islam is now going to Kushtia to meet Abrar’s family, personal assistant of the VC was quoted as saying by protesting students.
Meanwhile, the Circuit House of Kushtia has been prepped to receive the VC, our Kushtia correspondent reports quoting employees of the circuit house.
He is expected to reach the circuit house around 3:00pm and will rest there for a bit before going to Abrar Fahad’s village home.
Yesterday, several hundred Buet students protested the “silence” of the vice chancellor and his administration over Abrar’s murder.
VC Saiful Islam neither came to the campus nor gave any statement after the murder. He finally showed up on the campus to hold an urgent meeting with the hall provosts around 38 hours after the killing.
Learning about the VC’s arrival, several hundred students besieged his office. He came out of the office an hour later, and assured the agitating students that their demands would be met.
The students then hurled a volley of questions at the VC but he didn’t respond to any of those.
