Brother among 18 accused

Sibling has been sued on charge of Killing Imran Kabir Uzzal in the district town on Monday.

Liza Khatun, wife of the victim, filed the case with Kotwali Police Station on Monday night , accusing Uzzal's elder brother Babu and 12 others named and 5/6 unnamed attackers, said Sub-Inspector Tauhidul Islam.

According to the case statement, Babu carried out the attack over property-related family feud.

Police arrested four people including Lipi Khatun, wife of Babu, and Omar Ali, an alleged attacker, in connection with the incident. 

Uzzal, 35, son of Shafiul Mustafa of Kholadanga area on the outskirt of the town was critically injured as a gang of 5/6 threw a hand-made bomb at him when he was sitting on the railway tracks in the area on Monday evening.

Following an explosion, locals caught Omar and handed him over to police after a beating, said Sikdar Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of the PS.

Uzzal and Omar were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Uzzal dead, said the OC.
