BNP withdraws mayor candidate

BNP yesterday withdrew its mayor candidate Enamul Karim Atol from Basail municipality elections, scheduled to be held on June 30.

The party announced it in a press release signed by Mirza Shahin, office secretary of district unit of the party.

The candidate was withdrawn at the direction of the central unit of BNP, and all leaders and activists of the party in the municipality are directed to obey the decision,  said a joint statement by Shamsul Alam Tofa and Farhad Iqbal, president and general secretary of district unit BNP.

Now contest in the mayor post will be held between Awami League candidate Abdur Rahim Ahmed and Krishak Shramik Janata League candidate Rahat Hasan Tipu.
