Bid to abduct college girl in Chuadanga town, 3 held
Local people foiled a bid to kidnap a college girl and caught three kidnappers with a microbus in Chuadanga town yesterday.
The abductors are Ashik Ahmed Collins, 22, son of Ashrafur Rahman, Arif Ahmed, 22, son of Abdus Samad and Fahim Matin, 22, son of Abdur Rahman of Alamdanga upazila in the district.
Angry villagers also vandalised the microbus carrying the culprits.
Quoting locals, police said the trio tried to drag the girl, a second year student of Government Ideal Women's Degree College, into a microbus while she was going to Daulatdia Bus Terminal along with her two classmates from a girl students' mess in the town around 2:30pm.
Hearing screams, locals rushed in, barricaded the road in front of 'Ali Hossain Market' and caught the gang members.
They also beat them up mercilessly and later handed them over to the police, Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam of Sadar Police Station said.
However, the driver of the microbus managed to flee the scene, the OC said.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to their involvement in the incident.
