AL leader hacked to death in Bandarban

A local Awami League leader was hacked to death in Bandarban’s Lama upazila last night.

Deceased Md Alamgir Shikdar, 45, was AL vice president of Sarai union in the upazila, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting Oppela Raju Naha, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lama Police Station.

Alamgir was returning home from his farm house at the same union around 10:30pm on his motorbike when unidentified persons hit on the back of his neck with sharp weapon leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said.

Md Dastagir Shikdar, the victim’s brother, filed a case with the police station regarding the incident.

Police have already made an arrest in this connection, the OC also said identifying the arrestee as Md Ali.

The body was sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
