A Chittagong court today issued arrest warrant against three persons including two doctors and managing director of a private hospital following a case filed by a patient’s mother alleging that the patient died due to negligence of the doctors.

Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Harnur Rashid issued the warrants after taking cognisance of a case filed against gynecologist Dr Kajal Rekha Roy, Dr Debashish Talukder, registrar of Cardiology Department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital, and Abdul Jabbar, managing director of Patient Care Hospital, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

Quoting the case statement, Arefin Risbi, lawyer of the plaintiff, said the victim Sayema Sikder, 22, wife of assistant district judge of Noakhali Morshedul Alam, was under treatment of gynecologist Dr Kajal Rekha Roy during her pregnancy.

On June 2, Sayema was admitted to Patient Care Hospital with labour pain as per Dr Rekha’s suggestion where she gave birth to a baby boy after a surgery on June 3.

However, on June 3 she was transferred to Metropolitan Hospital in the city where doctors said that Sayma had died two hours back.
