AL men ransack Bogra mayor's office

An influential Awami League (AL) leader allegedly vandalised the office of Bogra municipality Mayor Mahbubur Rahman on Sunday.

Mayor's Personal Assistant Amir Hossain said Bogra Truck Owners' Association President Abdul Mannan with some of his party men went to the mayor's office and hurled abusive words at his office staff after knowing that the mayor was in Dhaka for official purpose.

At one stage, he entered the office room breaking open the glass door.

Mannan, also member of municipality AL convening committee, left the place soon afer a police team reached the spot, Amir said.

Mannan said he went to the mayor's office as the latter was not willing to sign the work order of a road repair work despite his repeated request, but did not break the door.

When asked over phone mayor Mahbubur said he heard about the incident.

Bogra Assistant Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakraborty said Imroz Mujib, municipality secretary, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against Mannan and two to three others the same night.
