9 held while going to India illegally
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested nine people while they were going to India illegally through Sadipur border under Benapole Port Police Station yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, BGB members raided the area in the morning and arrested the nine, including five women and two children.
Lt Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer of BGB 26 Battalion, said the border guards detained the people while they were crossing Sadipur frontier without passports.
The arrestees hail from Faridpur and Jhenidah districts. They told BGB men that that they were going to India in search of jobs.
BGB handed over the arrestees to Benapole Port Police Station and filed a case against them.
