9 gamblers held at Satkhira AL leader’s house
Police today claimed arrest of nine gamblers from the residence of a local Awami League leader at Munjitpur in Satkhira town.
The law enforcers also seized gambling equipment, Tk 49,000 in cash, eleven chairs, two tables, playing cards and scoresheets from the residence, said Kazi Salauddin, additional superintendent of police (Sadar Circle) in Satkhira.
The residence is owned by Syed Haidar Ali Tota, secretary of information and research affairs of Satkhira district unit of AL, a correspondent from Satkhira reports.
On information, police raided the house at Munjitpara around 6:30pm and caught the nine gamblers red-handed, the police official said.
The arrestees are -- Shariful Islam, 42, Abdur Razzak Sarker, 49, Golam Rabbani, 40, Mahmud Haque, 54, Kamruzzaman, 55, Shaheen Hossain, 35, Alauddin Sardar, 58, Saiful Islam, 40, and Jalal Sardar.
