8 held over SSC question paper leak
Detectives have arrested eight people including the leader of a gang involved in leaking question papers online of Secondary School Certificate examination.
The arrestees are Romon Hossein alias Mahir, Md Razib Ali, Md Ariful Islam alias Arif, Antar, Md Tarikuzzaman Hemel alias Abir, Md Liton Mia, Md Jahirul Islam alias Shuvo and Md Rafikul Islam.
They were arrested from different districts, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said.
The group used to leak multiple choice questions (MCQ) by taking pictures of those while they were being sent from the main centre to sub-centres of a district, Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of police, said during a media brief at the DMP media centre at Minto Road.
“They used to solve the MCQs within 10 minutes and upload them on their secret Facebook group from where the students got the answers right before their examination,” the police official said.
The leader of the gang, Rafikul Islam, is an English teacher of Kamalapur Railway High School and runs a coaching centre named “Gyankosh”. He took Tk 1 to Tk 5 thousand from each customer in advance, Abdul Baten added.
