8 affected edn institutions get compensation
Eight land subsidence affected educational institutions around the Barapurkuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) in Parbatipur upazila of the district on Sunday got Tk 35 lakh and computers as compensation.
As part of their social responsibility, BCMCL authorities distributed the cash and computers at its complex in the afternoon.
As chief guest, local lawmaker Mostafizur Rahman Fizar distributed the cheques and computers to eight institutions at the programme chaired by Aminuzzaman, managing director of BCMCL.
Addressing the programme, Fizar, minister of Primary and Mass Education Ministry, heavily came upon the affected villagers as they are yet to vacate the land in spite of getting proper compensation.
He also urged the affected people to leave their land as soon as possible.
The BCMCL authority distributed Tk 191crore among the affected people to acquire 646 acres of land around the coalmine area that subsided.
