57 Faridpur Sadar schools shut over health concerns
The Faridpur district administration today declared shut a total of 57 schools in Sadar upazila for two days after 103 students complained of respiratory problems for unknown reasons.
Quoting district administration office sources, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reported that students of Shibrampur RD Academy and Khalilpur High School reported of suffering from breathing problems during school hours since Tuesday.
The authorities concerned formed a three-member body to look into the incidents. However, the committee could not come to any conclusion yet, prompting the district administration to make the move, Prothom Alo reported.
Confirming the move, District Education Officer Porimol Chandra Mandal said the schools were declared shut considering safety issues and for further inspection.
Quoting a source at Faridpur Medical College Hospital, the daily reported that it was a mass psychological disease. The situation will become normal within few days.
