50 injured in Habiganj clash
Around 50 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over ownership of a savings and loan cooperative society at Uttar Sangor village in Habiganj's Baniachang upazila on Wednesday night.
Police and locals said an altercation took place between supporters of Phul Mia and Abdal Raja of the village over ownership of Basic savings and loan cooperative society.
At one stage, they attacked each other with lethal weapons around 8:00pm, leaving at least 50 people from both sides injured.
Of the injured, 13 were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and 25 were taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital and Baniachang Upazila health Complex while the rest given first aid, said police.
Later, the law enforcers brought the situation under control.
