4 BCL men caught extorting cop in Mymensingh
Four activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were detained from Mymensingh’s Nandailupazila today for allegedly trying to extort a police officer.
Arrestees Raju, 29, Royal, 26, Titu, 25, and Kamrul Hasan, 29, demanded Tk 20,000 from Nandail Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kamrul Islam Miah.
District police’s Additional Superintendent (Gouripur circle) Shaker Hossain Siddiquee told our local correspondent the four were sent by their leader, WahidulAlam, a former secretary of Nandail upazila unit Chhatra League.
They appeared before the police officer and demanded the money from him, triggering an altercation at the spot. Eventually, the four were detained.
Last reported, the process to file a case was underway.
Rakibul Islam Rokib, president of Mymensingh district Chhatra League, condemned the incident and demanded punishment of the detained activists after proper investigation.
