4 ‘militants’ arrested in Dhaka
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested four suspected militants from Dakkhin Khan area of Dhaka early today.
Tipped off, members of Rab-1 arrested the four suspected members of a militant group named “Allah’r Dol @ Allah’r Sarkar” during a drive in the area around 3:00am, said Rab-1 Commanding Officer Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem during a press briefing held at Rab’s media centre in the capital.
The arrestees were identified as: Sirajul Islam Seherul Mridha, 38, of Pabna; Moniruzzaman Monir, 40, of Narayanganj; SM Hafizur Rahman Sagar, 45, of Khulna; and Md Shafiul Mojnabin Turin, 27, of Rangpur.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted to their involvement with the militant outfit, the Rab official said.
Rab also recovered three pen drives, 12 mobile phones, leaflets and invitation letters of the militant organization, and tally books from their possession, the Rab-1 commanding officer added.
In another special drive in Ashulia, Rab-1 arrested four members of an inter-district robber gang, the official said.
The four were allegedly involved in robbing the vehicle of a cattle trader ahead of the Eid-Ul-Azha and also for murder in the same incident.
The victim’s mobile phone and the hammer used for the murder were also recovered, he added.
