39 sued over Sunamganj village clash
Thirty-nine people including a local Awami League leader have been sued in a case filed today over the clash between two groups of villagers in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj that left three people dead on Tuesday.
Ekrar Hossain, a former member of the convening committee of Dirai upazila Jubo League unit, filed the case with Dirai Police Station this afternoon, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
The accused include Mosharraf Hossain, Dirai municipality mayor; Pradip Ray, joint general secretary of Dirai upazila Awami League unit; and Hafijur Rahman, chairman of the upazila, said Md Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Steps will be taken in this regard after investigating the incident, the OC added.
Earlier on Tuesday noon, three people were allegedly shot dead and at least 12 others injured during the clash between two groups of people in the upazila over taking control of a waterbody.
