2 take own life after failing in HSC exams

A boy and a girl committed suicide yesterday in Baliadangi upazila and Panchagarh Municipality as they could not pass in the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations.

The boy was Lutfar Rahman, 18, son of Mohammad Ali of Sangaon village.

Baliadangi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sajedul Islam said when Lutfar learnt that he failed he bought tablets used for killing rats and ate those, which made him ill.

Locals took him to Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead.

A girl committed suicide yesterday at Purba Jalasi in Panchagarh municipality as she failed to pass in the HSC examination.

The deceased was Shabnur Akhter, 19, daughter of Rafiqul Islam of the area.

Rafiqul said Shabnur appeared in the examination from Panchagarh Government Women's College in 2017 but failed in English. In 2018, she appeared only in English.

She became disappointed after failing again and hanged herself.
