2 pvt medical student drown in Sylhet quicksand

Two students of a private medical college today drowned into a quicksand in Lalakhal of Sylhet.
The deceased were identified as Hasan Md Sayeed from Dhaka and Ishak Ibrahim Shoshi from Chapainawabganj, both aged around 25 and final year students of Jahurul Islam Medical College, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
The duo went to Mistry Ghat area of Lalakhal along with their friends for a picnic today, said Shafiul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Jaintapur Police Station.
They were walking in the shallow part of a water body there around 4:00 pm when Sayeed got stuck into a quicksand followed by Shoshi who tried to rescue Sayeed, the OC said, adding that locals later recovered their bodies around 6:30 pm.
The bodies are kept at Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex and will be sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for autopsy tomorrow, the OC added.
