2 ‘outlaws’ killed in Pabna ‘gunfight’ with Rab
Two suspected operatives of an outlawed party were killed in a “gunfight” with a Rapid Action Battalion team in Gayeshbari area of Ataikula in Sathia upazila early today.
Biplob Kumar Bepary alias Bipul, 28, son of Abdul Pramanik of village Bil Shalangai and Moyen Uddin, 27, son of Motaleb Hossain of village Paiksha under Ataikula Police Station of Sathia were said to be members of the outlawed ‘Nakshal Bahini’, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting Rab sources.
Bina Rani Das, commander of Rab-12 of Pabna camp said, tipped-off that a group of outlaws were taking preparation to carry out subversive activities near Gayeshbari Government Primary School, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area around 4:00am.
Sensing presence of the elite force, the gang members opened fire at the Rab officials, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the 'gunfight' that continued for nearly 15 minutes, the official claimed.
At one stage the duo were caught in the line of fire leaving them dead on the spot while others managed to flee the scene, she added.
Two pistols and a few rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.
The two were accused in several cases including the murder of a local AL leader Shajahan Ali Master, Rab said.
