Spl crackdown ends, 194 ‘militants’ held
Police today concluded a weeklong special crackdown with the arrest of 194 suspected militants including 151 members of banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
On the last day till 6:00am, police arrested 17 suspected militants from different parts of the country, according to the source of police headquarters.
Of them, nine are members of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), seven of Hizb-ut Tahrir and one of Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Police seized two firearms, two crude bombs, one bullet and several sharp weapons from their possession today.
The special drive began on June 10 in the wake of a string of targeted killings, particularly after the gruesome murder of Superintendent of Police Babul Akter's wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.
