14 Hindu idols desecrated in Satkhira

Unidentified miscreants desecrated newly made 14 idols of Hindu gods and goddesses at a temple in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira last night, 12 days ahead of Durga Puja.
The idols including Durga, Laxmi, Saraswati, Mahadev, Ganesha and Mahishasur were desecrated at the temple at Protapnagar Karmakarpara, our Satkhira correspondent reports quoting Amit Shom, president of Karmakarpara Durga Puja Committee.
The president said they left the temple area around 11:30pm yesterday. But found the idols broken in the morning, he added.
The sculptors completed their work on the 18 idols on Saturday ahead of the biggest Hindu festival of the community on October 19.
Akmal Huda, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ashashuni Police Station, said he visited the spot.
