130 sacks of stolen rice seized in Jamalpur
Detective Branch (DB) of police seized 130 sacks of stolen rice from Sanandabari in Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur district on Friday night.
They also arrested four people in this connection, said Imarat Hossain Gazi, officer-in-charge of DB police.
The arrestees are Anwar Hossain, 38, Ripon Miah, 30, Farhad Hossain, 38, and Raihan Miah, 45.
Police said 196 and 259 sacks of rice were stolen from Master Auto Rice Mills in Tarakanda upazila and Satata Rice Mills in Phulpur upazila on September 9 and 14.
Later, two cases were filed in connection with the stealing.
On secret information, a team of DB police led by Sub-Inspector Mafizul Islam raided Sanandabari area and arrested the four.
Following their confessional statements, the law enforcers recovered 130 sacks of stolen rice from the area.
Police are raiding different areas to recover the rest stolen rice, said the OC.
