The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the case this afternoon, Dr Sekendar Ali Molla, upazila health and family planning officer of Singair, told The Daily Star.

Her husband tested positive for Covid-19 earlier. However, their two children have not been infected, the official also said.
Earlier today local administration locked down Singair municipality around 12:10am, soon after the IEDCR confirmed the first case of coronavirus infection in the area, said Singair Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Runa Laila this morning.
The infected man, hailing from Faridpur's Nagarkanda upazila, came to a madrasa in Azimpur area as part of a 13-member team of Tabligh Jamaat on March 24 to join a congregation, said the UNO.
As he suffered from Covid-19 like symptoms such as fever, cough and respiratory problem, the IEDCR conducted a test on his sample, said Runa Laila.
IEDCR confirmed to the local administration of Singair upazila around 12:10am today that the man has tested positive with coronavirus.
The other 12 members of the team, six locals and their family members have been sent to home quarantine, our Manikganj correspondent reports quoting the UNO.
An expert team of the IEDCR went to Singair to collect samples from 18 other persons who stayed at a madrasa with the infected person, Dr Sekendar said.
