Number of daily Covid-19 casualties breaks record again; 77 dead, 5,343 infected
Seventy-seven people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
This is the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 recorded in the span of a day so far in the country. Number of daily deaths on April 8, 2021 was 74.
With this the total number of deaths reached 9,661 and death rate stands at 1.42 percent.
At least 5,343 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 6,78,937, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 20.49 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.65 percent.
A total of 26,077 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 3,837 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 5,72,378 and the recovery rate at 84.30 percent.
Among the 77 deceased, 53 were men and 24 women while one was between 11-20 years old, three within 21-30, two within 31-40, five within between 41-50, 22 within 51-60 and 44 were above 60 years old, added the release.
