NGO, civil society involvement needed to tackle coronavirus crisis: LGRD minister

Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Tajul Islam today said involvement of NGOs and civil society is needed along with government efforts to tackle the coronavirus crisis.

The minister called upon NGOs to partake in relief distribution activities in the both the city corporation areas.

A lot of organisations are working currently but a coordinated effort is needed at this moment, Tajul further said during a coordination meeting at the WASA Bhaban in Dhaka this afternoon.

It was decided in the meeting that a sub-committee will be formed under each ward of both the city corporations. Each sub-committee will also have representatives from NGOs who will help in coordination and relief efforts.

Stakeholders from both city corporations were present during the meeting.
