DSCC inaugurates month-long food distribution programme for those in need
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon today inaugurated a month-long food distribution programme for those in need during the ongoing closure of government and private institutions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Many of those who rely on daily-income for their meals now cannot find work and are having to go hungry, Sayeed Khokon said while inaugurating the programme at Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina too had called upon public representatives and the affluent to come in aid of those in need during this moment of crisis, the mayor added.
In light of the above call for action from the PM, the DSCC decided to distribute food among nearly fifty thousand people in the city.
Ward-based committees with local public representatives and officials have been formed and they will deliver the food.
