Covid-19: 12 among 24 infected in 2 days came to Moulvibazar from Chapainawabganj
Twelve among 24 people who have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Moulvibazar in the last two days till Sunday, have come from Chapainawabganj, said Moulvibazar Civil Surgeon Chowdhury Jalal Uddin Murshed.
Two persons working at households of as many people arriving from Chapainawabganj were also diagnosed with coronavirus, the civil surgeon said.
Four to five families are settled in Moulvibazar's Sreemangal from Chapainawabganj on business purpose. They sell plastic products here, the civil surgeon said.
Fearing that they may spread coronavirus, samples of 71 others, who recently came to Moulvibazar from Chapainawabganj, are being collected for Covid-19 test.
Officials of the Civil Surgeon's office went to their houses and started collecting samples from 10am today, said Dr Abeda Begum, an official of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila Health Complex and Family Welfare.
If the 71 -- 63 from Borokapon and eight from Chadnighat of Sadar upazila -- test positive, IEDCR will be contacted to confirm whether they have been infected with the Indian variant, the civil surgeon said.
Both Borokapon and Chadnighat have been put on lockdown last night, said municipality Mayor Fazlur Rahman.
Infection rate in the district is between 10 and 16 over the last few days, the civil surgeon said.
In total 2,476 people have been infected with coronavirus across the district. Among them, 2,330 recovered while 30 died.
