Cops raid Nejam-e Islam office twice
Police raided the central office of Bangladesh Nejam-e Islam, a member of BNP-led 20-party alliance, twice in Purana Paltan area of Dhaka today.
The crackdown came two days ahead of the alliance’s rally on January 5 scheduled to be held in Dhaka.
In a press release, the party claimed that police raided the office at 51/A at Purana Paltan first at 8:00am and later around 10:00am.
No one was arrested and nothing was damaged during the raid, the press release said.
During the raid, police asked a party office assistant, who was present then, about the whereabouts of the party leaders including Maulana Abdul Nejami.
Later police went away when the assistant replied that he was not aware of the leaders, according to the press release signed by the party publicity secretary.
