Cops injured in attack by robbers

At least 10 people, including three policemen, were injured in an attack by armed robbers in Chuadanga district early yesterday.
Meawhile, locals caught four robbers while they were preparing to loot passenger buses on Kushtia-Meherpur highway in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district the same day.
In Chuadanga, law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, raided Mobarakpur village in Damurhuda upazila where a gang of robbers were taking preparation for committing robbery at the house of one Ashan Ali at the village at around 1:30am.
Sensing the presence of policemen, robbers hurled two bombs at cops, leaving three of them, including ASI Hadiuzzaman, injured.
Seven people also sustained injuries as the robbers threw two more bombs on locals, who tried to help police catch the gang members.
Police, however, could not arrest any of the gang as they managed to flee. They (police) recovered two swords, a police ID card, a driving licence, one mobile phone and splinters of the bombs from the spot.    
In Meherpur, locals encircled a gang of robbers when they were taking preparation for looting passenger buses at Haria point of Kushtia-Meherpur highway by felling three roadside trees at around 11:45pm
Locals caught four of the robbers while others managed to flee. They beat up the robbers mercilessly. On information, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge Reazul Islam of Gangni Police station went to the spot and rescued the injured robbers.
