Clash over stalking schoolgirl, 15 injured
At least 15 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Baniarchang upazila of Habiganj on Tuesday over stalking a schoolgirl.
Of the injured, Enayet Mia, 32, Khorshed Ali, 55, Razia Akhter, 16, Mosabbir Mia, 13, Rekha Begum, 14, Al-Amin, 14, Hafizur Rahman, 15, Ratna Akhter, 40, and Jasim Uddin, were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital while the rest were given first aid at Baniarchang Upazila Health Complex.
Abdus Shahid, sub-inspector of Baniarchang Police Station, said one Sharif Uddin, 23, son of Jolfu Mia of Ikram village teased a girl of the village on her way to school around 10:00am.
Soon after the incident, two groups of villagers locked in a clash, leaving at least 15 people from both sides injured.
On information, police rushed to the spot, fired several gun shots and brought the situation under control.
