Woman burnt in acid attack 'by husband' in Ashulia

A woman suffered burns to her face and upper body allegedly after her husband poured acid on her while she was sleeping in their Baipail residence in Ashulia, outside the capital, following a family feud early yesterday.

Mazeda Khatun, 23, worker of Birds Group Garment Factory in Ashulia, is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for 60 percent burns.

Sabuj Miah, owner of the house, said hearing screams, he went to the house and saw the husband, Sohag Mian, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, fleeing.

Police are conducting drives to arrest Sohag.
