War crimes accused Ramjan dies at DMCH
Ramjan Ali, an accused of a case filed for allegedly committing crimes during the 1971 Liberation War, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday.
He had fallen sick inside Dhaka Central Jail, a jail guard who took him to the hospital, told The Daily Star.
Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman also confirmed the death.
Ramjan, 78, is one of the four accused from Durgapur upazila of Netrakona arrested on April 12 after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued arrested warrant against five including the four.
The accused were allegedly involved in Jamaat politics in 1971, they joined Razakar and Al-Badr Bahini, two auxiliary forces of Pakistani army, according to the prosecution.
Probe in the case started on April 30 last year and the investigation officer of the case has found “preliminary evidence” over the involvement in crimes, it said.
