A murder case was filed on Monday against ten people including Panchhari Upazila Parishad chairman and Logang Union Parishad chairman for killing Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS-MN Larma) member Bijoy Tripura on June 16 in Panchhari upazila.
Bijoy's wife Kalindi Chakma filed the case with Panchhari Police Station accusing ten individuals including Sarbottam Chakma, chairman of Panchhari Upazila Parishad; Prattuttar Chakma, chairman of Logang Union Parishad; Samajpoti Chakma, a leader of UPDF Panchhari upazila unit; and Devdas Chakma.
Bijoy, 35, was shot dead by assailants in Maratila area of the upazila on June 16 in his banana farm near his house. JSS accused UPDF for the killing.
Mizanur Rahaman, officer-in-charge of Panchhari Police Station, said they arrested one of the accused, Devdas Chakma, at his house in south Nalkata area of Panchhari yesterday morning and were conducting raids to arrest the other accused.
UPDF ACCUSES JSS OF ABDUCTION
Meanwhile, UPDF in a statement issued yesterday alleged that JSS-MN Larma has abducted three villagers from Mahalchhari bazar in Mahalchhari upazila of Khagrachhari the same day.
The villagers -- Utpal Chakma, 30, Purna Baran Chakma, 50, and Rikal Chakma, 32 -- are residents of neighbouring Naniarchar upazila in Rangamati and came to the weekly market at Mahalchhari bazar to sell their produce, claimed UPDF.
