UK, Bangladesh relationship fortified by Sylhet link
British High Commissioner Alison Blake has said existing friendly relationship between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh has become much stronger because of Sylhet connection.
Blake came up with the remark while exchanging Ramadan greetings with locals at a hotel in Sylhet followed by an Iftar on Tuesday.
As people from Sylhet contribute to the British economy, the UK also has a unique contribution to the economy of Bangladesh, she said.
Blake said an Iftar mahfil gives an opportunity to families and society to sit together. She also announced that a building of the British Council will be opened soon in the city.
Sylhet city Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, former mayor and metropolitan AL President Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran and DC of Sylhet were also present.
