Two JMB men jailed in N'ganj
A Narayanganj court yesterday sent two operatives of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 20 years' imprisonment in a case filed with Bandar Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act.
They are Saiful Islam and Mahabub.
The court also fined each of them Tk 20,000, in default of which they will have to suffer six more months' rigorous imprisonment.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Kamrun Nahar of Special Tribunal Court-7 gave the verdict in the presence of the convicts.
On January 7, 2007, a Rapid Action Battalion team arrested Saiful in Tangail for his link with JMB. Gleaning information from him, the team arrested Mahabub after raiding Farazikanda village of Bandar area of Narayanganj the same day.
