Two arrested over killing of woman

Police yesterday arrested two people in Nuraitoli area of Munshiganj in connection with the killing of a woman in the capital's Jatrabari on April 27.

The arrestees -- Md Milon and Jesmin Akther Ranu -- strangled Jhorna Akter and dumped the body near Shanir Akhra Bridge on April 28 before they went into hiding, police said.    

Police said Jhorna, a nurse, used to share a two-room flat on Ishakha road in Jatrabari with Ranu. Both of them were divorcees.

They locked into a brawl after one of Ranu's so-called brother Delowar, who used to visit her, started having an affair with Jhorna, said police.

As Jhorna decided to change the house, Ranu -- thinking that she would continue the relation going elsewhere -- killed Jhorna on April 27 with the help of her lover Milon, said police.
